I have long heard the benefits of engaging in creative activities. Since doing more art with Dignity in Action recently, I now understand, in my body and mind, those benefits.
In an article entitled "The Mental Health Benefits of Art are for Everyone", the author starts with this:
Creating art relieves stress, encourages creative thinking, increases brain plasticity, and imparts other mental health benefits. And anyone can do art.

The Pablo Picasso quote is lovely, and I find it true.
